Self-Care Saturday: Wash your face

Not right this instant, of course.

No, wait, come back here! I have more to explain!

I mean, yes, wash your face, especially if you haven’t yet. But, why would I label that as self-care or think it’s enough to make a post about?

Because some days just getting out of bed is a challenge. You may be fighting depression, and that can make self-care extra challenging.

When you find yourself in a time like that, self-care becomes extra important. Even if you’re getting up, going to work or handling your household needs, it’s still critical to keep up with the small acts of self-care while you’re fighting depression.

In these times, think about what your body needs.

  1. Medications
  2. Bathe/Shower
  3. Hydration
  4. Staying away from alcohol and drugs
  5. Healthy food
  6. Sunlight

Is it too rough to shower? Wash your face.

Not feeling up to a walk to get the sunlight? Can you get outdoors and just sit for a while?

Do the small things if you’re not up to the self-care challenge modes. And remember, call your therapist when you’re crashing like that. They’ll find you an emergency spot and may just be able to help you find your way back out of the depression and back to having an interest in your world.
