Escaping Paradise Character Review: Apollo

Apollo is the stage name for Gregory Wu, the son of Chinese immigrants to the US.  He broke contact with his family when they insisted that he choose law or medicine for college when his preference was to study anthropology.  Angered that they wouldn’t continue to pay his tuition, he decided to work until he could afford to pay for it himself.

Diana discovered Apollo working in a stock room when she heard him singing and was drawn to find out who the voice belonged to.  She pushed until he agreed to audition for a role in a play.  He was cast for the part he auditioned for, and began working with a small acting group.  Over time, and with Diana’s continued encouragement, he found larger roles and had just become capable of supporting himself modestly on his acting when Diana died.

Apollo likes everyone in Allied Futures except Michael.  He feels that Michael can’t relate to the struggles of “normal people” like Apollo and the other members because of his wealth.  He’s openly antagonistic toward Michael and loves being able to get the upper hand on him.  With everyone else, he’s friendly and lighthearted.
